Cover Reveal for Embattled Hearts (Lost and Found Series, Book #1) & Review for The Embattled Road

UPDATE-This just in from J.M Madden herself!!
Book Blurb
John Palmer hasn’t felt like a real man since he was injured during combat in Iraq. Though not content with his new life, he is mostly adapting, just like the other vets at the Lost ‘N’ Found Investigative Service. When Shannon Murphy is hired on as the new office manager, life suddenly gets a lot more interesting. Before long, John finds himself wondering if he could ever be the kind of man Shannon needs.

Shannon Murphy wasn’t really looking for love when she hired on at LNF, but finds herself hopelessly attracted to the sex-on-wheels former Marine, John Palmer. The man is grumpy and nearly impossible to work with, but his brand of masculinity appeals to her on a basic level. Soon Shannon is wondering just what it would take for John to want her the way she wants him.

When an old enemy tries to settle a vendetta against Shannon, John insists on protecting her. He moves into her house, fanning the spark of attraction into a blaze. But the danger continues to escalate. Even with all the resources at their disposal, they’re thrust into a fight for their lives.

I am so excited about first book in The Lost and Found series, Embattled Hearts, by J.M. Madden! I love this cover!! The prologue, The Embattled Road, blew me away! J.M. Madden writes an exceptional, realistic book about our military heroes, and the issues and hardships they face when they return from war. First up is John Palmer, who stole my heart in The Embattled Road. He has so many obstacles to overcome and I can’t wait for him to find love in Embattled Hearts! Seriously, you do not want to miss out on this series!! No release date yet, but it's coming soon! Check out my review for The Embattled Road!  ~ Karla

5 Stars!!! Amazing prequel to The Lost and Found series! My hats off to the author for this unique and long overdue plot line for a military romance series!

“I sincerely believe there is a soul mate for everybody. The external package doesn’t matter when it comes to the heart.” ~J.M. Madden

I think the author did this right, introducing us to the characters that will be featured first, without any romance in the storyline. She gives us a chance to get into their hearts and minds, allows them to heal, accept and deal with their situations before they can let anyone else in, and before their stories can believably move forward.

The writing is detailed and vivid, not easy to read at times, but also necessary to know. J.M. Madden doesn’t sugar coat the injuries that these men have, nor does she go lightly describing scenes when they flashback to what brought them to where they are now. It’s raw and authentic, and unfortunately the reality for too many of our men and women in the military. You will cry with them, but also laugh. She injects humor at just the right moments, to give the reader and the heroes a little comic relief.

Yes, this is heart wrenching, but not filled with doom and gloom, there are glimmers of hope. These proud men want to move forward, have a purpose in life, stand tall, march on, and use the skills they’ve learned to serve the people once again. It might be from a wheelchair or with one less limb, their gait might not be as smooth as it once was, but no matter…they will overcome whatever life has handed them…and they will do it together! Exhilarating, inspiring…OORAH!!!

A portion of the proceeds of this book will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. If you would like to make a personal donation, you can find information at http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ .

I would buy the book based on that alone. Going forward I have it on good word from the author that she will continue to donate proceeds from this series to the WWP and other organizations that support our military. Consider making a donation in your home country to support a group that helps those who serve and sacrifice so much for you.

  2. Hi Karla! You've been so awesome and enthusiastic about the series, I thought I'd let you in on a secret. John's book should be out the latter part of next week, at all outlets. Assuming everybody stays on schedule. I should know exactly by this weekend.
I hope everything runs to plan because I'll be in Texas from February 21 to March 2, first at the Naughty Sleepover in San Antonio then I'll be doing book signings in Dallas and Austin. So if any of your readers are in the area, I would LOVE to see them.
Here's another hint- I'm going to try to have Embattled Road and Embattled Hearts in print at the signings.
You and your readers are the first to know!
    Later dears!
