The Devil’s Touch by Victoria Vane (A Devilish Vignette) - Cover Reveal & Excerpt

Karla says in her review of The Devil’s Match (The Devil DeVere, #4): I’m hoping that Victoria might consider giving us vignettes that feature Ludovic and Diana, with glimpses into their lives, and knowledge that their passion for each other still burns hot!!

We asked and Victoria Vane delivered!!  Woohoo!! A short story that brings us up to date in the lives of our favorite couple from the Devil DeVere series, Ludovic and Diana! It also serves as a lead-in to Jewel of the East (The Devil DeVere, #5). So check out the excerpt, and awesome cover. The date is February 14^th, just in time for Valentine’s Day!!

Excerpt:
Medford Abbey, Kent 1784

It wasn’t long after her husband departed that Diana returned to the library in search of a book to help keep her mind occupied, but with her feet and back aching so badly, she thought to settle for a few minutes in her husband’s highly comfortable and newly vacated chair, rather than climbing the flight of stairs back to her room.

She settled in the plush over-stuffed leather with a moan of contentment and then decided to prop her feet on the desk. She made to clear away a pile of papers when a particular sheet of foolscap caught her eye. The wax seal had been broken. It was conspicuously penned in a most delicate and elaborate style of calligraphy. Definitely not a man’s hand. It was also a terse note of only a few lines. Unable to contain her curiosity, Diana picked it up and read:

Most Honored Effendi

It is with the greatest humility that I appeal to one who once safeguarded my life. With exceeding distress I entreat your favor once more, being much in need of a friend and protector.

Your most devoted and obedient servant,

Salime

Diana clutched the missive to her breast with quivering lips. An old friend indeed! Was it truly a friend named Simon he went so urgently to meet… or an erstwhile lover named Salime?
